HERMAN

PUNCH #96
Joan Herman has been honorably serving the Orland Township community for more than 35 years. She has more than 43 years experience as a Cook County election judge, 31 years of experience in Township government, and was the first Orland Township elected official to serve on the local, county and state levels of Township government. Throughout her remarkable career she has served in the Trustees Division as both the Secretary, and the Treasurer, for the Township Officials of Cook County, as well as the Township Officials of Illinois.
Joan Herman's allegiance to Orland Township has been recognized by many.  She has been awarded the Senior Medal of Honor by the Cook County Sheriff's Department, the Volunteer of the Year Award by the Association of Illinois Township Committees on Youth, and for two consecutive years she has won the Adult Volunteer of the Year by the Orland Township Youth Services.

Joan has been a resident of Orland Park for more than 50 years.  She and her husband, Irving, have two children: Lori and Edward, and three wonderful grandchildren.  She, and the members of the Orland Township Progressive Party, are asking for your support and vote in the April 7th, 2009 elections so that they may continue 'making the difference' for you, and the great Township of Orland Park, Tinley Park and Orland Hills.
Not only has Joan Herman volunteered for, or participated in, nearly every Senior, Youth and Health program that Orland Township offers their residents; but she has also contributed countless hours to the Orland Park Kiwanis Club, the Orland Park Lions Club and the Village of Orland Park's outdoor concerts, pre-prom DUI reenactment, Chili Willy Challenge and Taste of Orland.

Moreover, she has served as a PTA member for School District 135 for more than 11 years, was a room
mother for more than 9 years, a member of the school board caucus, and a member of the Key Communicator Program.  She has also served as a volunteer office aid for Consolidated School District 230, and as the Neighborhood Cookie Chairman, and Troop Cookie Chairman for the Girl Scouts.
