PUNCH #84
The Orland Township Progressive Party is proud to announce that their candidate for Township Clerk, Patricia Ann Thompson, was presented with the '2008 Clerk of the Year Award,' by the Township Clerks of Cook County. In addition, Clerk Thompson has received the 'Appreciation Award for Outstanding Dedication and Service to the Orland Park Kiwanis Club,' and has been selected not once, but twice, for the 'Citizen of the Year Award,' by both the Orland Park Kiwanis Club, and the Orland Park Lions Club.
Not only has Patricia Thompson served as Orland Township's Clerk since 1997, but she is also the current President of the Township Clerks of Illinois, a current member of the Board of Directors for the Township Officials of Illinois, and a current member of the Township Officials of Cook County. Over the years, her remarkable volunteerism, and wide range of skills, has also allowed her to become an invaluable contributing member to the following organizations:

* The Village of Orland Park Community Relations Commission (1993, Chairman)
* The Orland Park Mediation Task Force (1996, Member)

"It has been an honor and privilege to serve the residents of Orland Township for the past 12 years as Township Clerk. While it has been a challenging position, it has also been most rewarding. I have had the opportunity to meet and work with many wonderful residents, and have developed many lifelong friendships.
"As Township Clerk, I perform all duties required by state statutes and ordinances working closely with various Cook County and state agencies. In this position, it is essential to be knowledgeable of the statutes to ensure that all legal requirements are met.
"I also serve as the local election official coordinating all elections with the county Election Department, and the State Board of Elections. The Town Clerk is a keeper of records, and must maintain the integrity of the records while realizing the historical value of certain documents.
"I am dedicated to this position and take it very seriously, believing that the residents of Orland Township deserve immediate and accurate service. I am willing to continue to provide this level of service while remaining available to assist residents, either at the office or at home. If re-elected, I will continue to fulfill the duties of Clerk while upholding the standards of professionalism, servitude, experience, and knowledge that the Orland Township residents and Office of the Township Clerk have come to expect, and deserve," Thompson stated.
Clerk Thompson and her husband, Roger, have been married for more than 40 years, and reside in Orland Park. She, and the members of the Orland Township Progressive Party, are asking for your support and vote in the
